The 100MW / 331MWh battery storage system is now operational
As the first European project equipped with Sungrow’s advanced PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled technology, Bramley BESS is among the UK’s longest-duration and most versatile energy storage assets.
The system will play a critical role in balancing variable electricity demand and intermittent supply, enabling the integration of additional renewable energy into the grid. Bramley’s capacity is sufficient to meet the average daily electricity needs of 44,000 UK homes, helping reduce emissions, costs, and energy prices while enhancing system resilience.
The latest generation of PowerTitan is no exception. Innovativ designt
Der PowerTitan 2.0 stellt eine harmonische Integration von Hi-Tech in den Bereichen Leistungselektronik, Elektrochemie und Netzunterstützung dar und positioniert sich damit als wichtiger Akteur auf dem Markt für Großspeicher. Mit einer eindrucksvollen Batteriezellenkapazität von 314Ah bietet sie Platz für ein Power Conversion System (PCS) in einem kompakten Behälter. Dieses innovative Design weist die aktuell höchste verfügbare Leistungsdichte auf, und das auf kleinstem Raum: In einem 20-Fuß-Container sind 5-MWh-Batterien und ein 2,5-MW-PCS untergebracht.
Kosteneffizient und netzunterstützend
Zu den wichtigsten Funktionen des PowerTitan gehören seine weiter verbesserte Kosteneffizienz und Netzunterstützung. Durch die Integration von Batteriemodulen und dem String-PCS in einem einzigen Container wird eine um mehr als 7 % höhere entladene Energiekapazität über die gesamte Lebensdauer erreicht. Mit einer verbesserten Round-Trip-Effizienz (RTE) von 89,5 % vereinfacht das System die Energieumwandlung zwischen Gleich- und Wechselstrom.
Temperaturmanagement durch Flüssigkeitskühlung
Das flüssigkeitsgekühlte Wärmemanagementsystem gewährleistet eine konstante Wärmeableitung. Dies sorgt zum einen für einen überdurchschnittlichen Produktlebenszyklus von 20 Jahren, zum anderen wird die Effizienz des Lade- und Entladevorgangs verbessert. Darüber hinaus reduziert innovative KI-Technologie die Wärmeableitung an die Batterie und die Umgebung, was den täglichen Energieverbrauch um 40 % reduziert.
Netztechnologie auf Zelleebene
Der PowerTitan 2.0 ist mit Netztechnologie auf Zelleeben ausgestattet, um die Netzstabilität und Stromqualität zu verbessern. Er bietet Funktionen wie Hoch- und Niederspannungsüberbrückung, Breitbandschwingungsschutz und schnelle Wiederherstellung der Stromversorgung bei Spannungsschwankungen.
Safety First
KI-überwachte Zellen und mehrschichtiger Sicherungsschutz stehen beim PowerTitan an erster Stelle. Die Überwachung der Zellen mittels KI sorgen für Sicherheit in Echtzeit und bieten vier unterschiedliche Schutzschichten gegen elektrische Gefahren. Das in einzelne Einheiten unterteilte Design der Batteriezellen erhöht die Sicherheit zusätzlich.
Nahtlose Integration
Mit vorinstallierten Parametern und einem modularen Aufbau, der die Inbetriebnahme vor Ort verkürzt, kann das Projekt mit minimalem Aufwand an das Stromnetz angeschlossen werden kann und somit schon bald profitabel arbeiten. Das System ist außerdem auf Umweltverträglichkeit ausgelegt, verfügt über eine C5-Korrosionsschutzklasse und die Schutzart IP55. Auf bis zu 4.500 Metern Höhe kann der Großspeicher mit 100 % Nennleistung arbeiten.

With an impressive battery cell capacity of 314Ah, it accommodates a Power Conversion System (PCS) within a compact container. This innovative design significantly enhances power density, allowing a 20-ft container to house 5MWh batteries and a 2.5MW PCS.
Cost Efficiency and Grid Support
Notable features of the new PowerTitan include heightened cost-efficiency and grid support. By integrating battery modules and the string PCS within a single container, it achieves more than 7% higher discharged energy capacity over its lifetime. With an improved round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 89.5%, the system simplifies energy conversion between DC and AC power and improves overall system efficiency.
Liquid Cooled Thermal Management
An outstanding characteristic of this system is its liquid-cooled thermal management system, ensuring even heat dissipation. This not only results in a remarkable 20-year system performance life but also enhances charging and discharging efficiency
In addition, its artificial intelligence (AI) technology adapting heat dissipation methods based on battery and environmental temperatures reduces daily energy consumption by 40%.
Stem Cell Grid Tech
The PowerTitan 2.0 incorporates Stem Cell Grid Tech to bolster grid stability and power quality. It offers advanced capabilities such as high and low voltage ride-through, broadband oscillation protection, and rapid power restoration during voltage fluctuations.
Safety First
AI-Monitored Cells and Multi-Layer Protection Safety is paramount with the PowerTitan, featuring AI-monitored cells for real-time safety and four layers of protection against electrical hazards. The system's compartmentalised design further enhances safety.
Seamless Integration
With pre-installed parameters and a modular design that reduces on-site commissioning time, it is ensured that the project can be connected to the power grid with minimal effort and therefore quickly get into the profit zone. The system is also designed for environmental resilience, boasting a C5 anti-corrosion rating and IP55 protection, capable of functioning at altitudes up to 4,500 meters with 100% nominal power.
